Brittany Borman wasn't able to get a legal throw in the discus and missed another All-American finish.
Cydney Ross, Maurice Mitchell and Richard Lowe provided the biggest highlights of day 1. Ross had a great last 250 meters to finish second in a pr of 2:04.79in her 800 heat to automatically qualify for the finals. As long as she finishes and doesn't get dq'd she'll be taking home an All-American trophy.
Maurice Mitchell is looking for national titles in the 4x100, 100, and 200 as well as the Men's team title. Things went well for Maurice on Day 1 as the 4x100 won their heat to place 4th overall in the prelims. He won his 100 heat and was second overall in the 100. Today comes the 200 prelims.
Richard Lowe, the Memphis senior from KC-Ruskin HS, had an amazing finish in his 400 hurdles race to comeback from 6/7/8th to second to auto qualify for the finals. He pr'd in 50.15 while he was seeded 14th and was 11th on the performance list.
Brian Hancock finished off his Mizzou career with another All-American finish in the pole vault. The 5th year senior cleared 17-2.75 to tie for 9th.
LSU junior and former Lincoln University star Semoy Hackett had an up and down day. After helping the LSU 4x100 squad to the top finish in the prelims she slowed down short of the finish line in the 100 prelims after officials turned the athletes around to actually run into the wind. She must have mistaken which line was the finish.

Officials turned the 100 around but still ran into the wind and Semoy let up at what she thought was the finish line 10 meters too early. We’ll see if that costs LSU the title.

Richard had a bad start and was quickly in about 6-8th, but over the last 150-200m he had a huge comeback and moved up all the way up to second. It was unbelievable.
