Lindsay was one of six to dnf. My source tells me Coach Vollmer pulled Lindsay out after the long jump. She’ s had the injured hip flexor she hurt at the Great Southwest Meet.

Matt misses the World Championships team in the 5k by 20 seconds. Ran tough gutsy race took the lead midway through before fading the last couple of laps.

With Michael Rodgers third place finish in the 100 he becomes the second Missourian to earn a 2011 Team USA berth for the World Championships. His finish qualifies him for the open 100 and should put him on the 4x100 relay. After qualifying for the World Champs team in the 10k Thursday night Matt Tegenkamp tried to match Mike Rodgers feat of qualifying in two events. Less than 24 hours after finishing as runner-up in the 10k he took the lead mid-way through the 5k. He ran gutsy but couldn’t hang on and finished 5th. Nick Adcock posted good showing in the Decathlon 110 hurdles, shot put, and javelin, but struggled in the pole vault and finished 8th overall, less than 10 points behind 6th and 7th. That may not keep him from making his third straight US Thorpe Cup Team later this summer. The event pits the 5-6 multi athletes of the US against Germany in the decathlon and heptathlon. Maurice Mitchell missed the 100 final and a chance to be on the 4x100 World team, but he returns Friday for the 200 prelims.

After sitting in 2nd place in the Junior Women’s Heptathlon Lindsay Vollmer had to pull out of the event after the long jump. She was injured earlier this month, straining a hip flexor I believe at the Great Southwest Classic. Festus HS junior Brenne Borman finished 13 in the Jr Heptathlon and took second in the Heptathlon Javelin. The skill or hard work runs in the family as Brittany Borman will compete Saturday in the Senior Women’s Javelin. Montenae Roye advanced to the Junior Women’s 400 final while her Ladue HS teammate Samantha Levin did the same in the 800. Joining her in Saturday’s Junior Women’s 800 final will be Kianna Ruff. Dalen Fink and Lauren Waterbury just missed making it to the finals of the Junior Men’s 800 and Junior Women’s 400 as both finished 9th. Tim Gilman also took 9th in his event, the Junior Men’s Decathlon.

Miles Smith took 5th and qualified for another USA Senior Men’s 400 final. Richard Lowe took 14th and earned an automatic qualifying spot in the Senior Men’s 400 hurdles. Like Smith, Christine Spence also qualified for a Saturday final in the Senior Women’s 400 hurdles with a trip to Daegu on the line
